Richard was born and raised in Austin as a sixth-generation Austinite, capped by earning a Bachelors in Chemistry from UT Austin.  After working in the IT field in many roles for 25 years, Richard turned his focus to CHS in the fall of 2024.  He has worked with youth for many years, through volunteering at his children’s preschool, serving as a leader in the Boy Scouts, and attending most every school field and road trip with his kids’ classes.

Richard and his wife, Crystal, met when they were both freshmen in high school and the two of them married at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in 1999 as they attended UT.  Their son, Kenny, attends CHS and their daughter, Olivia, is a future freshman.  Their three dogs lie on the furniture while Richard is at CHS.

Richard spends his spare moments repairing vehicles for entertainment, leading Boy Scouts for the last 11 years, taking long road trips with his family (especially along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico), and watching “old” movies.
